List of Fraudulent Coupons and Extreme Couponing

As the usage of coupons continue to rise within our nation, so does the use of coupon fraud.

I don't think that many people realize when they are committing coupon fraud, but Savvy Coupon Clippers takes time in educating people about this topic.

Why do we spend time reinforcing this issue?

It's quite simple.
Holly and I rely on the ability to use coupons. Yes, we enjoy teaching others how to save like we do, and we enjoy finding and posting deals for each of you.  BUT, " clipping coupons " is not a hobby for us, as much as it is a necessity right now.

We can't afford to lose our privileges because there are those who don't want to be honest with coupons.

I have had several people say to me, " It's just a $.50 coupon, what's that in comparisons to what the store makes off people? What's the big deal?"
Well, my friends..It is a BIG deal, especially when you have hundreds, and I mean hundreds of people that feel the same way as this person does.
It eventually causes problems, and makes retailers rethink their options as far as coupon usage.

Coupon fraud has MAJOR consequences: Click Here for charges and sentencing information.

I am also including a link that you can access, that has the latest coupons that were fraudulent. Now, mind you; some of these coupons that are listed LOOK as they are fraudulent, and there are some that could have passed through my hands and I would have never guessed ( if a person was using one, I can tell when multiple copies have been made )

Click Here to access the list.

I also want to point out, although most of these coupons that are on this list were coupons that someone had ACTUALLY made, the consequences are almost the same for those who choose to abuse coupon usage by making MULTIPLE copies of the same coupons.

I also want to share with you a post regarding TLC's newest series Extreme Couponing. Holly and I could go on for days about this show, and how it goes against almost everything that we teach in our classes and how we use coupons. But, for now, I will leave you with this link. Click here

Unique ID Numbers on Printable Coupons

**This is an older post, but I have had several people ask me about this in the past few days, so I thought I would this with all of you again, for those who are having trouble using Internet coupons.**

We have had several of you email us about having issues with using Internet coupons at various stores, because of the coupons having the " same " numbers.

No matter how many times you print the same coupon, it will ALWAYS have a unique four digit number on each one. It will never have the same numbers, UNLESS it is a store coupon or " pdf " coupon. ( there are a few that will have the same numbers that are not store coupons or " pdf " , but these are rare )

The coupons that come from redplum, smartsouce, bricks ,manufacturer websites, and coupons.com, will have a different set of numbers EVERY time it is printed legitimately.

I am posting an example below to show you what numbers to look for when the cashier tells you that the coupon was " copied " because the numbers are the " same ".

The numbers that I have circled in " red " are the four numbers that will be DIFFERENT each time it is printed from a computer ( except for the exceptions that I listed above ). When a cashier tells you that your coupon is a " copy " , KINDLY show them these four numbers, and they will see that you do have legit multiples of coupons.

Hope this helps !  There are several other " Savvy Tips " that we have posted in the past, look under the label that reads " Savvy Tips " on the left hand side of the page.

Did you head to the store, just to realize that the other Savvy Sister's got there before YOU ???

Does this look like you when you are heading out to score some Savvy Deals?

Does this look like you when you get in the store ?

We all have those moments when we are aggravated because every one had the same idea when it came to scoring those deals.

Solution?

80% of the time ( it depends on your store's policy regarding rain checks ), you can get a rain check for the item if it is not in stock when you go to purchase it.

If your coupon is going to expire that day or a few days later, tell the CSM or store manager that your coupon is about to expire, and see if they will honor it once their item becomes available.

I have done this numerous of times, and some of my stores will honor the coupon and some won't. But, it does not hurt to ask.

Remember this Savvy tip when you come across this situation again, Rain Checks are "rain checks " for a reason, and that reason is so that we are guaranteed the item once it becomes available again.

**We ask that all of our Savvy Sister's be GENEROUS when shopping, and to leave some for others. There is no need in someone " clearing the shelves ". Our local town, Brunswick, GA only has ONE Target, Walmart, Publix, Harris Teeter, let's try to remember that when shopping savvy :) **

For more tips, click on the label that reads " Savvy Tips " that is located on the left hand side of the page.

Tips for Shopping on Black Friday :)

Ready to tackle Black Friday ?

Here are some tips that I found on the web when I was surfing for coupons, thought I would share :)

Be prepared: a plan, comfy clothes, ads, money...just be sure you have it all
Look at ALL the ads when making your game plan
Ask friends and/or family to come with you
Consume adequate amounts of caffeine ;)
Keep your lists/ads/coupons organized

Find out if a store you're going to price matches so you can lessen the amount of stores you visit
Remember to bring all your ads (in case your store does price match)
Ignore the rude lady that just shoved you; she's just jealous of your mad shopping skills
Do a little recon; become familiar with the layout of the store(s) you will be shopping in so you don't lose time
Ask your store if they will have a special layout for Black Friday items
You may get frazzled: stay calm and try to enjoy the thrill of the awesome deals you're getting!

Hope this helps :)

Store Coupon Policies

Have you ever been in the check out line, hand over your coupons, cashier says something to you about your coupon and why she can't accept it, and you look at her and say:

" Say what ? " ( or at least this is what you are thinking right )

This happens to me ALL the time, BUT, here is how I deal with it..

I NEVER go into the store when I am using coupons, WITHOUT my copy of that store's coupon policy.

Savvy Coupon Clippers ALWAYS carries a copy of the stores that we shop at. This eliminates much confusion when you are using coupons.

Click here to see the store policies that we shop at. If your store is not listed, go to that store's website ( if they have one ), or go to the customer service desk at the store and ask for a copy of their coupon policy. Always have it in your binder, folder, box, whatever you use to carry your coupons in.

FREE Budget Planner :)

I first wrote about Mint.com several months ago, and I have been using this system since. I LOVE it,it provides many features that are very significant when you are trying to budget and analyzes your dollars.

I just noticed that they are offering this service again, the best part ? It's FREE, and completely secure.

This is from the original post:

I constantly have people asking me to help them make a financial budget, personally I have had one for the last 5 years. There is NO way I could live without one now that I have been doing them for so long. I saw on the Oprah show about five years ago, people were talking about a " debt diet " , and how to use a budget. It has been a lifesaver for me. It does take some getting used too, but my life is SO much MORE SIMPLER when using one.

I came across Mint.com today and just signed up to use it. It's FREE and looks like a great resource for those who don't know how to use a budget, or just want something that is more computer generated without all the MENTAL calculations. ( that is why I am thinking I am going to LOVE this new site )..

Go to Mint.com and set up your account. It's FREE :)

New Coupon Policy for Publix ( Brunswick, GA ) goes into effect 10/1/10

Reminder:

The NEW coupon policy for our Publix ( Brunswick, GA ) goes into effect starting tomorrow, 10/1/10.

When you go to Publix, be sure to pick up a copy of the new policy.

There are a few changes with the new policy:

All coupons must be in date (no expired coupons)

Coupons can ONLY be used for items specified

Coupons cannot be altered or appear to be “photo copied”

Publix will accept the following competitor coupons:

WalMart
Winn Dixie
Save-a-lot
Harris Teeter
Target
Harvey's
Family Dollar
Dollar General

Publix will no longer accept Rite-Aid, CVS, or Walgreens Coupons (of any kind)

You will only be allowed ONE $$ off total purchase competitor coupon per day, and this can be “stacked” with a Publix $$ off total purchase coupon. Only ONE Publix $$ off coupon can be used per day. The amount has to exceed combined value of coupons.

EX: Your order must exceed $50 if you are planning to use ONE $25 off total purchase Save-a-lot coupon with ONE $25 off total purchase Publix coupon.

"Overage" is allowed, AS LONG as the overage is not granted using a competitor coupon.

Publix will not accept competitor coupons that are priced specific or priced matched competitor ads.

Remember that you can stack up to three coupons for item:

Example: You can use ONE Target coupon, ONE Publix coupon, and ONE manufacture coupon on the same item.

You can use TWO coupons for BOGO, one set of coupon(s) per item, unless stated otherwise on coupon(s).

Total after coupons must exceed zero amount.

Publix’s reserves the right to refuse known or suspected coupons that appear fraudulent.

Publix’s reserves the right to limit quanities being purchased.

Please be considerate of your fellow shoppers and DO NOT remove "peelies" or “rebate" coupons from products, remove coupon pads from displays, or remove excessive coupon books or flyers.

Rain checks are valid for 30 days, and there is a limit of ten items on a rain check.

Entire quantity must be purchased at the same time, if available.

Rain check must be surrendered at time of purchase.

Rain checks must be specific as to variety. Publix will check quantity before issuing a rain check.

After many weeks of working with our local Publix and managers, Holly and I are pleased with what has transpired regarding the new coupon policy. We hope that our Savvy Shoppers will view the coupon policy as “black and white”, and not venture into “grey" areas.

We hope that each and every one will be courteous to our fellow cashiers, as they adjust to this new coupon policy. If you find yourself in a situation where you know that your coupon is valid, please speak with the manager. The cashiers are only doing their job, and with any “change ", it will take some time before all the “kinks “are smoothed out.

As a reminder, make sure that ALL your coupons are in order, ready to be handed over to the cashier. By following this procedure, it will make the “check out “process much quicker.

Holly and I are here for each and every one of you. Please ask any questions that you may have. We have worked hard to set this coupon policy in place, so that each and every one of us can maximize our savings using coupons legitimately.

Blessings,
Rebekah and Holly

Starbucks on the Cheap!

Savvy Coupon Clippers loves Starbucks like the rest of you, but you know, we really don't like the price.  What most people spend on their coffee a week, we spend on our groceries a month.  I can't justify that so I set out to find out how I could get the best latte' at the cheapest price.  Here are some tips that have helped me enjoy my latte' on the cheap! And I like it a latte' more!  LOL :)

1. Get a free Starbucks Card that earns you free drink customizations, free coffee and tea refills, and a free drink on your birthday.

2. Keep your Starbucks cup and bring it back at any time for 50-cent coffee refills.

3. Bring your own reusable cup and Starbucks will take 10 cent off the price in recognition of your eco-consciousness. And as regulars learned long ago: If you order a tall drink and bring a very big reusable cup, you get some extra beverage free to.

Now to the Biggest Secret and my FAVORITE of all:

If you want an iced latte but don't have latte cash (ME!), order expresso over ice in a big cup.  Then walk your Savvy Hiney over to the condiment bar and use the carafes of milk (whole, half and half, or fat free) and syrups!  Customize your own latte'!

Being Savvy is all about finding the savviest deals on everything.  Sometimes you have to think out of the box.  Change your way of thinking and those savvy deals with fall right in your lap.

Blessings!

Holly :)

What to do when all that JUNK mail clogs up your inbox?

*This is an older post, and after having many of our new readers ask this question, I thought I would post it again.*

What to do when all that JUNK mail clogs up your inbox?

I have been asked several times about how to keep " junk " mail and/or advertisers, promotions, and solicitors from taking over your inbox.

I have a SEPARATE email account ( yahoo, hotmail,or Gmail offer FREE sign up ) that I use when filling out surveys, info for coupons, and info for the free samples.

This way I don't have to worry about getting TONS of emails from these companies in my personal everyday email account :)

Be sure to check your mail often, because these companies do send out GREAT coupons from time to time.
