♥ Savvy Savin' Suppers ♥

I am all about a slow cooker.  Anything that can make my life just a little less hectic is AWESOME!  So I set out this week to find a savvy simple slow-cooker supper!

Starting next week, with it being Fall and all, I plan on doing lots of fall comfort foods.  So getting ready for a trip around the world with your tastebuds!  It will be an adventure for all of us!

Slow-Cooker Baked Ziti

1 15oz container ricotta cheese
1 bag of italian blend cheese
1 tsp salt
1 lb of Ziti (1 Box)
2 Jars Marinara Sauce

1.  Combine Ricotta Cheese, Italian Blend Cheese and Salt in a Medium Bowl.  Rinse Ziti under cold water in a colander, allowing some water to cling to pasta.

2.  Mist inside of slow cooker with cooking spray. Place half of pasta in an even layer over bottom of cooker.  Spoon half of sauce over pasta. Dot with half of cheese mixture.  Repeat with remaining pasta, sauce and cheese.  Pour in 2/3 cups of water.

3.  Cover and cook on high until pasta is tender, 2 to 3 hours, OR on low for 4-5 hrs.

4. ENJOY!

Cost Break Down:

Ricotta ($1.25 at Walmart)
Italian Cheese Blend ($1 @ Publix)
Ziti  (Free @ Publix week 08/12)
Sauce  (.60 per Jar @ Publix 9/9)

Total: $ 3.45

In my stockpile I had everything but the Ricotta Cheese so my dinner tonight is costing me $1.25.  I am pairing it with a salad of Lettuce, Tomato and Cucumbers, as well as, Brownies for Dessert.  With all this I still stayed below my $5.00 budget!

My breakdown:

Ricotta  $1.25
Lettuce  $1.00
Tomato $  .57
Cucumber $.50
Brownies (Stockpile)

Total: $ 3.32
