Financial decisions, such as buying groceries and household goods, require careful thinking. Multitudes live under financial pressure, some through no fault of their own. However, many are under pressure because they have not managed their money and finances well. By adopting a lifestyle beyond their means, they not only spend all they make but also use credit, spending money they do not have. God does not want His people to be victims of poor financial management. The Lord wants His people to be good managers and generous givers.
Proverbs 21:5 says:
The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage, but everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty.
God has provided instructions for us from the Bible designed to enable His people not only to meet their own needs but also the needs of others and His church. Being wise about finances and money is a biblical principal.
If you analyze the verse from Proverbs above, I see it as saying, “Haste Makes Waste”. If you act hastily in anything you do, you will surely fail. Instead of rushing out, buying your groceries at retail, plan you grocery list. Do the coupon match ups. God has provided coupons for a reason, it certainly wasn’t to be wasteful. If you do this, God will see that you are indeed making plans diligently and you will succeed.
Example:
If you go to the grocery store on a whim, like most people do. Fill your buggy full of groceries you think you will use (but you really don’t know because you didn’t plan) when you check out you will spend between $100-$200 or more on that buggy full of groceries. Research shows, that only half of that will be used. On the other hand, if you plan your week, make your list, do coupon match ups matched with the weekly circulars, when you go the store you will spend at LEAST 50% less. That could give you an extra $100 a week, $400 per month and a whopping $4800 a year! That is a absolutely amazing! That money put into savings, and used for good will certainly be to your advantage and you will not be lead to poverty.
We at Savvy, certainly believe in saving but we also believe in giving. We not only give ourselves daily as a means to help others prosper but we give back to our community, our country, and our Church. REMEMBER Gods word:
It is more blessed to give, than to receive…Act 20:35.
Blessings!
Holly :)
